September Update

Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice!
Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice!

The season is shifting - mornings are cooler, the garden is slowing down, and the smell of pumpkin spice has already started to fill the kitchen. September always feels like a turning point, and I wanted to share a few updates from the farm and studio.

Bread: This week's bake includes the aromatic Pumpkin Spice Sourdough, along with traditional loaves and a rising star: Brown Sugar Cinnamon. The starter has been strong, and there's nothing better than the way the whole house smells when the first fall loaves come out of the oven.

Wool: One of my music students surprised me this month with three fleeces - Corriedale, Polypay and Black Babydoll! Each has its own character, and I've been slowly washing and preparing them. Receiving fleece as a gift feels a little like being handed a piece of the land itself, full of possibility.

Paint & Clay: In the studio, I've been sculpting small "storytellers" - animals in cloaks, as though they wandered out of a fairytale. They've become companions to the Wool Woman stories I've been writing, each carrying its own quiet wisdom. A few new paintings are underway too, as I play with color and symbols for the fall season.

Looking Ahead: I'm preparing for an upcoming craft show at the Hilltop Schoolhouse in Parker where I'll be sharing small batch sourdough, pottery, paintings, and hand crafted bath salts - more details soon, but do mark your calendar : Sat. Oct 4
